as already seen in part 6 , the choice of the right measuring instrument is very important for achieving the best humidity measurement results.
Calibration times and traceability standards should also be regularly maintained. Products manufactured in cleanrooms or in laboratories, production facilities, warehouses...cover a wide range, including pharmaceuticals, semi-conductors and food products....
Humidity and temperature are often monitored, as these parameters can have serious effects on product quality and production efficiency.
We must always ensure that the data produced by measuring equipment is reliable and accurate. Periodic calibration is absolutely essential, depending on the nature of the hygrometer.
National laboratories are responsible for maintaining and developing traceability and for providing calibrations of the highest precision.
1- NIST calibration services may be limited to the calibration of the highest primary quality standards.
2- Commercial calibration services provide calibration services for lower-level standards and measuring equipment.
These may be manufacturer's services providing calibration services for their own products, or laboratories providing calibration services for any measuring equipment. Non-accredited calibration services are the majority,
Service providers, including most equipment manufacturers' measurement calibration services and a considerable number of commercial calibration services. Without accreditation, the competence of these services cannot be proven.
Before use, competence must be confirmed by auditing the service.
Every calibration service provider must maintain an effective chain of traceability. At the very least, the primary standard should be calibrated at an external laboratory and then used for calibrations.
Some commercial calibration services do not include uncertainty estimates in their calibration certificates. Some calibration services are not able to calculate all uncertainty components. The competence of these services should always be taken into account.
